DIY Burlap Charger Plate
This chic and trendy Burlap Charger tutorial combines two of the things I can’t seem to get enough of: burlap and easy DIY ideas. It’s simpler to make than my Burlap and Ribbon Placemat, doesn’t require any sewing and you can throw it together in about 10 minutes. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

This project allows you to upcycle old chargers you no longer care for that have outlived their trendiness, or you can scout the dollar store for cheap new versions. It’s both eco-friendly and frugal. I love that.

As for the burlap, check the fabric store for remnants or close out sales, but don’t rule out shopping online for a good deal. For example, you can pick up 40″ wide Natural Burlap on Amazon for under $2/yd shipped free with Prime or a $35 order.

I also love this Teal Chevron Burlap Ribbon . You could take this design up a notch by covering a larger or oblong platter to make a show stopping centerpiece.

How to Make Your DIY Burlap Charger

Supplies:

  • large charger plate or platter
  • spray adhesive
  • burlap fabric large enough to cover the plate
  • scissors

Simply spray the charger plate with spray adhesive. I used Elmer’s Craft Bond. Spray a generous amount of adhesive onto the plate and quickly cover with the burlap fabric.

Work quickly to smooth the fabric onto the plate removing any air bubbles or wrinkles.

After the adhesive has dried, turn the plate over and trim the access burlap away using scissors or an exacto knife. While the adhesive will keep the edges from fraying, they’ll still be a little rugged which is part of the beauty.

See, what did I tell you? This DIY Burlap Charger comes together so easily, you can create enough to set your entire table for a Spring dinner party with minimal effort.
