Never Too Young For Generosity

I love the hearts of children and the generosity that resides there. Take for example the image above. The sign is pretty much illegible so let me explain what’s going on here.

My girls had a friend over to play this yesterday and they asked me for a piece of poster board to make a sign. The first sign they made read “visit the statues”. They were standing by the road in our neighborhood pretending to be statues.

They came running in the house later with handfuls of money. Of course I sternly asked where they got it.

It seems they became bored playing statues and changed their sign to read “give to the poor” and “all money will be given to people who need it”. They collected around $9. They asked “you will give it to the poor, won’t you?”

I was amazed at their creativity and quite choked up by their generosity. I assured them that we would pass it along to FaithWorks of the Inner City. They were three happy little girls!

Oh that I would be so generous with my time and money and find the same joy as these little ones in giving to and serving others.

And yes, that is a batman cape and a santa hat they’re wearing! Love it!

How have you seen generosity towards others manifested in your children?
